Robert Smail’s Printing Works, National Trust of Scotland

Following in the theme of printing this year I visited Robert Smail’s Printing Works in Innerleithen (National Trust of Scotland). A fascinating property, like stepping back in time to the Victorian and Edwardian eras as little has been altered since then.

The tour was informative and fun, and the guides knowledgeable and clearly have a passion for letterpress printing. It was fab to see the machines at work. We even got to compose a little something ourselves and have it printed on the Columbian “Eagle” Press. Would love to try more. I definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area.
